... Project Local Love | Cakes by Dustin ...

Last week I had the great pleasure of working with Cakes by Dustin and getting to know the owner/baker, Dustin. Of course I already know that his cakes are absolutely DELICIOUS! Which of course is extremely important when looking for the right cake baker.

So... If you are on the search for a wedding or birthday cake that's somewhat nontraditional, affordable and most of all, DELICIOUS, then Cakes by Dustin is without a doubt the place for you! (& yes I did just caps delicious twice in a row... because trust me, you will be thinking the same after you try one of his cakes!)

And finally, it's your turn to get to know the "Guy behind the cakes" with this exclusive interview from Sarah Elizabeth Photography.

-When did you first start baking?
I started baking three and a half years ago. My first cake was my sons 1st Birthday cake. It turned out so cool that i decided to make cakes for families next. After that is when word of mouth about my cakes really started going.

-What is your favorite part about being a baker?
The best thing about being a baker is the constant learning and being more creative and pushing myself with every cake I do.

-Do you have custom flavors?
I will do what ever the customer requests. If the customer wants something special that I haven't made before, I will do a couple trial runs as it before I send it out.

-What is your favorite cake & frosting combination?
Apple cinnamon with caramel butter cream.

-Do you offer anything besides cakes?
Cupcakes.

-What was the most fun request for a cake that you've received?
Any sculpted cake, but vehicles are my favorite. I'm a car nut.

-What services do you provide to brides?
Free in store consultation, design of detailed cake and samples at no extra cost.

-What is the most rewarding part of what you do?
Seeing peoples reactions.

-What is the most unique cake you have created?
Life size drum set -
4 layer 8" Tom
4 layer 10" Tom
3 layer 12" Snare
4 layer 12" Floor Tom
Chocolate Chip cookies for the symbols.

-Besides creating amazing cakes, what else do you do with your time?
During the day I spend time with my son, Caler. We work on cars and do landscaping.
(Fun info- Dustin's wife, Teresa and I were in the hospital at the same time having our boys. Just one room & one day apart from each other. Small world huh?!)

-Anything else you would like our readers to know about you?
I'm a down to earth family guy and the biggest hockey fan!

This year there will be two beautiful and inspiring ladies representing SEP. We had such a great time at their 2014 Spokesmodel Shoot. I can’t wait to reveal more about each of these incredible girls in future sessions. Until then, how about a little info on each of the girls so you can learn a little bit about them.

... Brittany & Ryan | Sandy Creek Engagement ...

Back in early December of 2012 I sold a gift certificate to one of the sweetest women I have ever met. When I asked her who she was purchasing it for she responded "My granddaughter, Brittany. She told me that an engagement session with you was something she wanted for Christmas." I would be lying if I said I wasn't blown away. Out of all the gifts someone could receive, they asked for a session with ME? That right there is pretty darn awesome!

Brittany & Ryan... what can I tell you about this truly & madly in love couple? Well, first thing first- they ROCKED their session! Completely rocked it! They were so much fun and didn't let me or my camera shy them away from being themselves together. What I loved best about them? They allowed me to talk them into doing a spur of the moment water session. Ugh, I can't explain how badly I've been wanting to do one. So.. I officially love them to pieces!

Brittany & Ryan, THANK YOU! Thank for asking for a session from me for a gift and thank you for being such amazing clients. I would LOVE to work with you both again in the future!!
